Ugh

I'm tired. And I don't want to have any conflict, yet conflict seems to be attracted to me.

America is a hypocritical at worst, chauvinistic at best. I'm going to stick with us being a chauvinist country, because it's the easiest to defend and makes the most sense.

I don't really care that I'm going to be an ambassador, I'm not going to blindly fall into the "I'm American, ergo, America is the best country." We're not. Seriously. If anything, we've got it half right. Along with every other country that has a relatively stable environment. As Americans we tend to create problems which then ripple out, then we fix them and scold the other countries that haven't done so. If we didn't create the solution first, or someone has done it better than us, well....we don't hear about it. Can't mar our image.

This all came about when my brother was talking about us being a green country. Such an annoying term by the way. Lets think as to why we're green. We've done all these good things! We have all these regulations for cars, factories, and all this other stuff. But tsk tsk on places like China that don't have our standards.

Uhm. Really? Here's my thoughts.

Standards obviously have got to be expensive to some degree. If they weren't, there would be absolutely no need to enforce them, because they would already be there. Because we have all these wonderful green standards, making things in America is not as cost friendly. But hey! Look at that. China doesn't have all those regulations. Things are cheap there. So we go there to make all our stuff.

So this is what happens.

We're green in America because we sweep all our bad stuff under the rug. What's under the rug? All those countries that we manufacture crap in because it's less expensive. At the same time we say "We should spread our Green Campaign to all those countries that pollute, and over produce, and trash the environment."

But that's difficult. Because unless given some incentive to change that doesn't come from within their walls, they're not budging. And the best way to make a country change what they're doing is to effect them economically. That would mean pulling something like "We're going to bring all American run factories back to America and manufacture our own stuff until you guys get better standards." This might make them do something, but it would make our stuff more expensive because of general increased manufacturing costs and the costs of bringing everything back. This would piss EVERYONE off.

God forbid we actually have to spend MONEY to make something happen!

Honestly...that too pisses me off. We don't complain about buying a ticket to go see a movie, but we complain about paying more on taxes to keep our country running in a recession.

It's like saying: I'm not going to pay for this movie! There's no reason that I should! Oh, they need to make back the 100 million they spent making it? Well maybe they shouldn't spend so much! I want to watch my goddamn movie because it's a ton better than the little crappy home movies my son makes me watch!

If your son was given 100 mil to make a movie with, could he make something people would watch? Probably.

I think people are too busy seeing the golden mountains of past days. The brilliance of those memories has blinded us to the grime that covers our country.

Anyway. I'm done with my little rant.

Friday was actually an interesting day, but because of the fact that my internet got fried on Wednesday, I couldn't post anything.

So lets see. Well...haha...now that I think about it. Friday was boring as hell. I felt like I was going to go insane. I don't know what I was thinking about. Well, I do, but that was only one thing.

So I'll talk about it! What a novel idea. How came to me that day (wow that sounded a little religious) with a request. He wanted me to tutor this sophomore girl in Biology. My first reaction was "Oh no. Biology was not my best subject at all, I don't know if I'm the best person to help." Which to me sounded like it made sense. The second semester I was struggling to stay afloat in Bio. But of course he insisted that I help.

The funny thing about How is that he thinks about multiple things at once. True. There's probably dozens of people better suited to be a bio tutor. But I'm guessing he's doing with me what he did with White Noise. He wants someone has a soft presence that can extract something.

White Noise told me about it. He said that when he reported to How what was happening, he wasn't 100% satisfied. They were getting through the work no problem. Studying and such, and he was helping her out. BUT, he was also to get her to open up to him.

Which How has expressed that I can do. That it doesn't matter if you know me or not, I have a trustworthy presence, and you just feel like spilling. I guess that's what happened with Star, to a degree. Because when I was saying that Bio was far from my strong subject, he was also saying that she needs someone that she can talk to, and will listen.

So now I'm curious really. What will this bring? I'm meeting with him on Monday, just to have a chat, so I think I'll ask him. Also, I'll have to ask what her name is haha. She was standing right there during How and I's exchange, it just didn't occur to me that I didn't know who she was haha. Oh well.

The weekend was pretty cool. I hung out at Scan's place with White Noise. Nothing monumental really happened. I think this has been long enough really. Oh! White Noise likes Say Anything! It was a surprise. We sang Admit It!!! together. Though it was me doing the monolouge parts and him filling, because I love that song so much I had to learn those parts

Out~
